About Us

Background on El Salvador:

El Salvador is a very beautiful, very poor country, still recovering from the effects of a long civil war. As families try to make ends meet, fathers often immigrate to other countries and sometimes forget about their families back home. Sadly, most of the children that we work with do not have an active father in their lives. Many times their mothers are working and the children are left in the care of other relatives or left to their own resources. Because of immigration, prostitution, and many other factors, there are a lot of young children roaming the streets alone. So many children do not feel part of a family and gang members take advantage of this to recruit children into their networks before the children even realize what is happening. Due to gang activity, El Salvador is considered one of the most dangerous countries in the world.

Our Vision:

To bring change, El Salvador needs a new generation renewed by the love of Jesus. The children need a place where they are loved and feel like they belong. Little Hands of Hope exists in El Salvador to create that place for them. We want to provide a safe haven for children where they hear the gospel, are loved, and are encouraged to foster opportunities and skills for their future. Our goal is to have fewer children on the streets and more of them in a place where they are shown Jesus’ love. We hope to see a new generation of Salvadorans grow up with the hope of the gospel and along the way we want to help equip them with more skills for life.

Following are some of the ways we strive to accomplish this vision:

  • Teaching the gospel
  • Supplying nourishing meals
  • Providing a place to talk and be safe
  • Being available for advice and support as needed
  • Addressing costly medical needs
  • Tutoring in math and reading
  • Teaching English to arm them with a valuable skill
  • Providing workshops on different skills
  • Encouraging creativity through arts and crafts

“And whoever welcomes one child like this in My name welcomes Me.”
